Bad or worse things about working for Cgi-ams
management control of business units holds members in a static state no career paths or focus on growth at member level no retention |
Poor vision for future growth. Company relies almost entirely upon acquisitions of smaller consulting firms to obtain new clients. Limited chances for advancement. Very limited chances for bonuses and recognition. |
You must be well connected for advancement. No bonuses for personal efforts - you may save the day all alone but if BU and company don't do well - don't even mention the word bonus. A person can't improve lifestyle just on mere recognition at BU meetings. Lack of innovation - management just doesn't take risks. |

AMS

Other compensation (e.g, 401k match, bonuses, profit sharing). Canadian management seems very far removed from US operations. Other compensation (I can't stress that one enough). |
Lack of Culture. It is a hodge podge of mergers that have never been integrated from a culture standpoint. Leadership from Canada is weak. |
lack of training for advancement
1. no opportunities for advancement.
the politics with the company, I never seen so much, |

See my blog comments titled "My work experience with CGI-AMS" |

The company is tightly coupled with Bellsouth. |
1. Bonus to employees is based on profitablity of region . So individual contribution is not considered or recognised.
1) The office setup is not up to the standard of an MNC.
Not sure what the future holds. |
lack of training and career development |
As a VP you can smoooze the SVP and stick around till retirement no need to climb any ladders just the SVP needs to be comforted most do not want confrontation so they let the lower levels VP's let director levels run the show of who stays and who goes |
CGI does little to nothing to keep talent on board in acquistions, and does absolutely nothing to maintain a network with former consultants, which can be highly valuable in most industries. Many consulting firms understand this, but CGI does not. The company routinely sets itself up for political failure with clients. The mid-level managers are largely unpolished overachievers who do not impress anyone paying attention. Current financial results are weak, and will likely not improve. |
Be open with the freaking numbers such as executive bonues, insider trading etc. |
There is opportunity to advance, but you have to be proactive in your career. Lots of people leave and eventually return to the company, so it can't be all that bad! |

The company was very good when it was AMS, but when they merge with CGI, those fools dont know how to communicate |
