Title - Short description of the problem I am a phishing victim through a geocities scam, which is also a Yahoo company. Yahoo neither wants to reset my password nor cancel my yahoo ID. I am a legitimate user with no access to my yahoo account, but an hacker out there has full access to it. |

Detailed description of the problem My account stopped working for last 3 weeks. Someone had changed my password, and of course they changed all my secret questions, zip code etc. I have called Yahoo 3 times and sent tons of emails. Their response is that we cant do anything unless I confirm the date of birth on the account. Guess what, the account was created many years back and I dont remember the date of birth. I was willing to give any form of id, which is not enough for them. Finally after the frustration with their customer services, I decided to give away my yahoo account even though I had important emails on that account. So in the end I asked them to shutdown my account, which they are not doing it either. Every time I call and email, I get the same answer - it starts all over again with what's your zip code, dob etc. Repeatedly I been asking them to cancel the account, but of no use. Just imagine what a phisher can do with my account - he could very well pretend like me and phish all my social network. Apparently, Yahoo does not care at all. I have spent at least 10 hours on this issues with yahoo, let alone the fear and the emotional trauma. I understand and appreciate the security measures they have, but they have no clue what a customer is going through. Just the fact that I dont have access to my own account (but a hacker does) scares me. |

What's your desired outcome? Just close my account, so that the hacker wont get my social network. If any of my social networks gets phished, Yahoo should be held responsible for not taking corrective actions. |

Any other comments? This is a serious lesson for me, and hopefully others can learn from this too. |
